A Wedding at Hampton Park | MaryBeth & Michael’s Wedding Photos

MaryBeth and Michael are my newest best friends! With all the communication back and forth, MaryBeth and I seem like we know each other fairly well! And, Michael and I have tons of things in common like playing guitar, hiking, music, and flying; it’s actually pretty creepy LOL. It’s to really bad they live in Florida, I wish they were here in Charleston. MaryBeth and Michael’s wedding day began at the Society House on King Street where everyone was getting ready and preparing for the day at. They were having a small wedding, primarily just family and a few friends, therefore the day was pretty relaxed…which I enjoyed. MaryBeth and Michael decided to see each other before the ceremony, this way we could have tons of time to take photos downtown Charleston. After the “first look,” we walked around the historical district and captures tons of creative photos for the two of them. We then headed to Hampton Park where Doug Farmer performed a beautiful ceremony beneath an old oak tree. As the sun began to set, everyone headed over to McCrady’s restaurant for a wonderful, quiet, and intimate reception in McCrady’s “Historic Long Room”. We were served a unforgettable entrée and yummy dessert, which they were nice enough to allow me to enjoy. It wasn’t much longer till the night was concluding and things were wrapping up. MaryBeth and Michael made a celebration exit with sparkles, embarking on their new journey as husband and wife. Congratulations guys!

White Point Gardens | Vanessa & Mitch’s Wedding

I was at White Point Gardens the other day, waiting for a couple to arrive to shoot their engagement photos. While I was sitting there a noticed that a ceremony was underway beneath the gazebo in the park. It was a rather small wedding, only 10 or 15 people max. After the ceremony, I saw them walk towards the water and begin taking pictures. Immediately, I noticed that this wasn’t a professional. It was a young woman taking photos but she looked as though she were still in high school, turns out she was. The young girl was related to the bride and groom, whom I later learned were Vanessa and Mitch. The story is that they were having a last minute wedding and were unable to have a professional wedding photographer capture their day. The groom must have noticed that I looked like a photographer–probably the two cameras hanging from my shoulders–he slowly walked toward me and asked, “Do you need some pictures for your portfolio?” I responded, “Well, not really but I can take some for ya if you like;” “Really? You’d do that?”, “Sure thing, come over here.” And so I brought them into the beautiful seen you see below and got a handful of great images of them. I was able to give them a very special gift for them to have forever. It’s really cool to bless others and give back to those who deserve it! The best part about this is that I guarantee they will always remember and cherish this simple gesture, and it literally took only 10 minutes of my time. That’s worth it!

Charleston Harbor Engagement Photos | Margaret & Robert

I had a wonderful time hanging out with Margaret and Robert for their especially unique engagement shoot. Margaret and Robert spend most of their time out on the water relaxing, fishing, and enjoying Charleston’s warm weather in their families boat. Robert wanted something a little different for their photos and since he knew I love outdoor activities, he decided that taking the boat out was an excellent idea. We met up at the Isle of Palms marina and launched the boat after preparation. We headed up the channel and made a stop at a small dock leading up to a vacation Margaret and Robert spent many weekends enjoying. We explored the area took tons of photos on the island. When we returned, we headed further north to Dewees Island. This remote island is only accessible by boat which is nice because that means less people, a quiet, desolate place. The weather started off pretty cloudy but the skies opened up and we got a gorgeous sunset to finish off the evening with. It was awesome to be out in a boat again, I should definitely get out on the water more. I hope we can all go out again sometime! I look forward to photographing Margaret and Robert’s wedding this upcoming November!
